BIG SOUND is one of the most respected and fastest growing music business events in the Asia Pacific region. Produced by Q Music (Queensland Music Network Inc), and now in its seventh year, BIG SOUND is positioned as Australia's most internationally focused conference, producing three days of panels, workshops and artist showcases for local, national and international music industry representatives.
The conference connects the connectors, creating an environment to simultaneously launch the hot new artists of tomorrow and the new and innovative business ideas that will take them to the top.
BIG SOUND showcase series highlights the best in new music from Australia and further a field. Some of the finest artists from around the country will use BIG SOUND to take their music to the world. Over two nights and three days you’ll hear some of the hottest breaking acts take the stage in Fortitude Valley venues.

Polish your laughing gear Brisbane 'cause PopEyed, Australia's hand balancing, acrobatic beefcake comedy duo, is heading our way! With chests rippling and steel quads, equilibrium masters, Mark Verisilli and Rudi Ivakoff have more than a few tricks up their biceps. Their gravity defying feats amaze audiences, swinging them from fits of laughter to gasps of disbelief. Check out these 'World Champions' from the 11th Annual Daidogei Street Performance World Cup in Shizouka, Japan, 2002.

DVDJ SIMULCAST & DJ DAMAGE
Simulcast has been pushing pixels and invading eardrums throughout Australia since 2002. A one-man audiovisual assault unit, he performs music and live video in sync. Hitting the decks this evening will be DJ Damage of the Terntable Jediz/The Optimen notoriety. Simulcast will join Damage to provide the visuals to Damage's scratch.

Fresh from the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Australia's funkiest and deadliest Indigenous comedian Sean Choolburra, is set to rock this year's Valley Fiesta with his unique brand of stand up, dance, yarns, didge playing and rapping.

THE VALLEY MARKETS BUSKING COMPETITION
The Valley Markets Busking Competition heats kicked off on the 9th of August 2008, during the markets on Saturday and showcased the amazing talent that is thriving in SE QLD.
With over $2000 worth of prizes up for grabs, the artists sang for their chance to play at the Valley Fiesta, and also take home Musicadium digital distribution, a $500 recording package from Keytone, haircut from Bespoke, The Music Shop vouchers, a Guitar set up from Tym Guitars, the chance to go on 4ZZZ for a live radio interview plus heaps more!
The artists who competed all deserve honourable mention, be sure to check them out busking during the markets throughout the year and performing in venues around Brisbane.

CHINESE MOON FESTIVAL
Brisbane’s Moon Festival is an important part of Brisbane’s thriving cultural and festival scene as it provides us with an opportunity to celebrate Brisbane’s cultural diversity and sense of community. Join in the festivities of the first full moon of the new season on Sunday 14th September 2008 from 10:00am to 1:00pm as the Fortitude Valley’s Chinatown Mall will be alive with colour during the festival.
Enjoy the Moon Festival celebrations with lion and dragon dance, circus and fire acts, festivities and traditional entertainment. Event activities also include children’s cultural activities, lantern parade, Chinese folk art, dance and song.
Program Highlights
Chinese moon cakes and lantern display, Chinese dragon and lion dance, traditional Asian dance and music, market stalls, fire and circus acts.
